The BF USA received the great honor of winning the Standing Up for Justice Award. Standing Up for Justice Award is awarded by the Young Korean-American Education and Service Center to recognize the role of individuals and organizations in enhancing justice and community development. Previous awardees have included Patrick Young, a human right activist dedicated to immigrant advocacy, and Taryn Higashi, the director of the immigrant welfare program at the Ford Foundation. YKASEC stated that the award is in recognition of the Beautiful Foundation USA's efforts in cultivating the sprit of giving to help marginalized neighbors in the community. Father Paul Ouderkirk was another Standing Up for Justice Award recipient this year. Father Ouderkirk has supported deported immigrant families and has worked to heighten public awareness of inhumane aspects of certain laws pertaining to immigrants.
